How many CBD oil drops is enough?
Even though CBD oil is legal (below 0.2% THC) It is reccommended that people wanting to try it cosult a doctor first. However most of the medical profession are still reluctant to prescribe cannabinoids because they are not sure what dosages to prescribe. After all, medical school doesnt cover CBD Cannabidiol in their pharmacology courses. Scientists are just now developing dosing schedules for medical marijuana, medicinal hemp and their extracts, including CBD.
CBD rich hemp oil is available in many different concentrations and forms, including hemp oil, hemp as a thick paste, capsules, sublingual tincture drops or sprays, skincare and balms for topical use, edibles as in candy or gum and CBD vapor from vaporizers similar to e-cigarettes.
The truth is everyone is different
Everyone asks how much do i take? The fact remains that everyone is in a different place and will react differently to their CBD dosage. As serving size or dosage of CBD differs for each person, it is best to start off with CBD low and slow and this is why;
Every body has an endocannainoid system. There are receptors throughout the body that the CBD attaches to. This is extremely beneficial. Once you’ve dropped the oil under your tongue, it’s working! Your CBD receptors haven’t been used much over the years. When you first start taking CBD, you need to ‘wake up’ the receptors. Then they begin reproducing more and more receptors.
This is when you start slowly increasing your serving size just a bit at a time. As your receptors improve and multiply, your body can handle a larger amount of CBD. Some things will be helped by a small amount of CBD, other things will require a larger serving. The things that only require a small amount may be noticeable when you first start, those that require more oil won’t be noticed until you’ve reached the neccessary number of drops. Just remember, take it slow. Start low.
As things start to improve, try to make a mental note as soon as you notice. A lot of things can slip by virtually unnoticed. ‘I just realized I haven’t ______ in weeks’. ‘Usually by this time of the year, I’ve ______, But haven’t had to since starting the oil’. You’ll see a lot of that.
If you take too much in the beginning, you can ‘hurt’ or shock what CBD receptors you do have, and you just go backwards. It can also intensify any detox you may experience.
LOW (start 2-3 drops, once or twice a day). and SLOW (increase by 1-3 drops every 3-6 days). Keep increasing slowly, until you get to the point that you don’t have anything left to improve, or until you stop feeling better. If things start to reverse, back off. This is refered to as ‘self titration’. You’re figuring out your serving size, or sweet spot. For many, this can change over time, so be aware.
LOW and SLOW. There’s a reason.
How to Take CBD Oil
CBD is most commonly taken orally in a concentrated paste or drops/ tincture formatFirst of Shake the bottle well! Separation in hemp oil products is completely normal. Most bottles are made from dark Amber which is good, dark bottles help block light and extend he shelf life.
Squeeze the dropper to to fill the pipette with oil and dispense the desired amount of oil under your tongue. Hold it under the tongue to be absorbed in the mouth prior to swallowing. This is important because some of the CBD will be broken down by the digestive system and also as there are no taste buds under the tongue you avoid some of the hemp taste. You can add as many drops as you need, the phytocannabinoids in CBD less than 0.2% are non-psychoactive. However, some people experience a mild sedative effect at larger quantities. Which can be beneficial if you have trouble sleeping, so take it just before bed.
Other oral methods include capsules, mouth strips, and edibles such as chocolates. Many people also enjoy using CBD vape oil or CBD eliquid via vaporizers or inhalers as this is a near instant delivery method that can be quite effective. Others use CBD oil by taking it through the skin via lotions, balms, creams or patches. Try a few different approaches and see what works for you. Again, everyone is different.
The Herx Reaction
It is also very important to drink lots of water to flush out all of the toxins as a lot of people experience the herx effect when starting the CBD oil (The Herx Reaction is a short-term reaction the body has as it detoxifies. It is quite common to experience flu-like symptoms including a headache, joint and muscle pain, body aches, sore throat, sweating, chills, nausea or other symptoms)
